On Sunday, at approximately 13:40, police officers responded to a call for domestic violence at a residence on Dainų street in Šiauliai. Upon their arrival, a woman, born in 1947, surrendered a firearm and five rounds of small-caliber ammunition. Authorities suspect that the weapon and ammunition belong to a man.
The male suspect, born in 1951, was found to be under the influence of alcohol, testing at a blood alcohol content of 1.05 per mille. He has since been taken into custody at a local detention center. The incident occurred during a response to a reported domestic disturbance.
The police officers’ presence led to the recovery of the firearm and ammunition, which were reportedly kept illegally at the location. This event follows other reported incidents involving firearms and domestic disputes in the region. For instance, in a separate investigation in Tarakai, fifteen weapons were seized from the home of a suspected murderer.
Another reported incident involved a fatal shooting at a bank in the Zarasai district, where the victim and the alleged perpetrator were guests.
