The State Food and Veterinary Service (FŽŪV) has reported the detection of Salmonella spp. in fresh chicken breast meat originating from UAB „Nematekas“. This affected meat product was distributed through “Maximos” retail stores.
According to Ernesta Vareikytė, the media relations manager for “Maximos,” the contamination was identified during routine self-control testing. The specific product involved was the “Well Done” brand, supplied by ŽŪB „Nematekas,” and consisted of fresh chicken breast meat. The product in question had an expiration date listed as August 6, 2026.
Vareikytė stated that upon receiving the test results, the retailer immediately removed the contaminated product from the market and initiated a collection process from customers. Information detailing the recalled item has been posted within “Maximos” stores. The collection of the affected meat product from consumers will continue until the end of July.
This action by “Maximos” represents a precautionary measure following the confirmation of Salmonella contamination in the chicken meat. The recall aims to ensure public safety by removing the potentially hazardous salmonella-affected product from circulation. Consumers are advised to check the store notices for further details regarding the specific meat items that need to be returned.
