Iran called the agreement to end the war in the Middle East a defeat for the US

Speaking at a conference in Azerbaijan, M. B. Ghalibaf asserted that the “Islamabad agreement” was achieved through the courageous resistance and authority of the Iranian people, rather than through external pressure or force.

During the broadcast on Iranian television, Ghalibaf stated that the memorandum thus established represented a declaration of American defeat. Furthermore, he emphasized that maintaining security within the Middle East should be the responsibility of the region’s own countries. These remarks followed reports detailing ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region.

Separately, Pakistan announced on Wednesday that it has decided to extend the scheduled technical talks brokered between the United States and Iran, with discussions slated to continue into the following week. The comments by Ghalibaf place the recent diplomatic understandings within a broader regional security framework. By asserting that the agreement was domestically driven, he sought to define the parameters of future cooperation and stability across the Middle East.

The focus on regional self-sufficiency suggests a push for local actors to take the lead in resolving geopolitical tensions, rather than relying on external powers for stability in the Middle East.
