Israel said it would withdraw its troops from Lebanon only when Hezbollah will be disarmed

Negotiations commenced in Washington, facilitated by the United States, between the involved parties. The situation escalated following large-scale airstrikes conducted by the Israeli army in Lebanon and the deployment of Israeli troops to the southern region. This escalation occurred after Hezbollah, receiving support from Iran, entered the conflict in the Middle East on the side of its patron.

During a press conference, government spokesman David Mencer stated, “We will not withdraw our forces from southern Lebanon until Hezbollah poses a threat, is disarmed and demilitarized.”

In response to mounting international pressure, Lebanese officials initiated direct negotiations with Israel in Washington in April. These discussions represent the latest phase of a series of negotiations that are anticipated to conclude on Thursday. The ongoing diplomatic efforts aim to address the volatile situation in Lebanon.

The involvement of Hezbollah has significantly complicated the regional dynamics, prompting the military actions and subsequent diplomatic engagement between Lebanon and Israel.
