K. Vilkauskas recently discussed his meeting with the Prime Minister, characterizing the exchange as a form of negotiation. Speaking to Eltai, Vilkauskas expressed satisfaction that the Prime Minister was receptive to his concerns.

Specifically, he advocated for sustainable financing mechanisms related to the commemoration of Vytautas the Great’s homeland, as well as funding for the construction of a monument dedicated to Vytautas the Great, among other cultural matters. For Vilkauskas, the paramount concern remains the uninterrupted advancement of cultural processes, emphasizing that cultural priorities must remain elevated.
He stated that the continuity of cultural work is more important than any single outcome. The discussion also touched upon procedural changes within the political sphere. Previously, the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party’s (LSDP) Presidium had made the decision to change the chairmanship of the Seimas Culture Committee.
In this context, it was noted that Vilkauskas’s position within the committee is slated to be filled by former Minister of Culture, V. Aleknavičienė. Overall, the dialogue underscores Vilkauskas’s commitment to the sector.
While the specifics of the committee leadership shifted, his focus remains squarely on strengthening the framework for Lithuanian culture, ensuring that cultural needs are adequately addressed and supported moving forward.
