Lithuania allowed Interpol to search for a Moldovan fugitive – he was arrested just after crossing the border

On Thursday afternoon, border guard officers from VSAT Vilnius conducted routine checks of passengers arriving at the capital’s airport in Lithuania. During these inspections, authorities intercepted several individuals who were sought by local law enforcement. Among the passengers was a 36-year-old Lithuanian citizen.

Border guards discovered that the man, who had traveled from the United Kingdom, was actively being sought by the capital police. Authorities confirmed that the individual was wanted in Lithuania for six and a half years on suspicion of dealing in narcotic substances. The border guards subsequently arrested the man and transferred custody of him to the arriving capital police officers.

Later that same day, the border enforcement teams apprehended another man who was wanted at the border by Belarusian authorities. Furthermore, another incident occurred involving a Moldovan national. Although initially permitted entry into Lithuania, this individual was subsequently detained by the border guards and handed over to the police department.

These multiple interceptions highlight the ongoing vigilance of border control measures within the capital, ensuring compliance with national and international law.
