He noted that the collaboration between smaller European nations, specifically Lithuania and Poland, proves that such cooperation can establish a significant hub for the development of advanced artificial intelligence technologies. The primary objective, according to Grikšas, is to unify the artificial intelligence ecosystems of both Lithuania and Poland into a structure capable of competing on a global scale.
This regional ambition aligns with major European technological strategies. The concept of “gigafactories of artificial intelligence” represents a key initiative spearheaded by the European Commission and EuroHPC. These facilities are designed to create the next generation of large-scale computing infrastructure necessary to power advanced artificial intelligence applications across Europe.
The European Union has indicated plans to partially finance up to five such gigafactories. In response to this strategic European push, Lithuania and Poland are planning joint investments. These efforts are structured through a business consortium led by Polish entities, aiming to capitalize on the anticipated EU funding mechanisms.
This coordinated approach underscores a commitment from the Baltic and Polish markets to solidify their position within the burgeoning digital economy.
