Lithuania has expressed strong protest to Russia over the mass shelling of Ukraine

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong condemnation of Russian attacks targeting Ukraine and its populace. The ministry stated that ongoing aggressive actions by Russia indicate an unwillingness to cease hostilities or halt the alleged terror directed against Ukraine’s civilian population, characterizing these actions as violations of international humanitarian law. These statements followed significant military activity reported on the night of July 1-2.

According to reports, Russian military forces launched a substantial barrage, involving at least 75 different types of missiles and nearly 500 combat drones. The city of Kyiv was identified as the area most severely impacted by this assault. The consequences of the attacks resulted in significant loss of life and injury.

Reports confirm that at least 27 Ukrainian civilians were killed, and a minimum of 90 individuals were injured. Following the incident, Ukrainian rescue services initiated extensive search operations for people potentially trapped under debris. The Ministry’s report framed the escalation of violence as a clear demonstration of continued aggression from Russia against Ukraine.

The detailed account of the weaponry deployed and the resulting civilian toll underscores the gravity of the situation as viewed by the ministry. These reports contribute to an ongoing narrative regarding the violation of international norms within the region involving Russia and Ukraine.
