The government is scheduled to make a decision regarding international civil protection assistance on Sunday. Preparations for the mission involve a specialized team from the State Fire Fighting Service’s LERT unit, which comprises 20 firefighters skilled in rubble rescue. This team will be supported by two canine handlers from the State Border Guard Service and two paramedics from the emergency medical service.
For the operation, approximately six tons of specialized equipment and necessary resources have been mobilized. According to the Department of Communication of the Government, Media Relations and Public Relations, on Saturday, key among the equipment are acoustic and seismic detectors, thermovizors, georadars, and search cameras. These tools are designed to locate individuals trapped beneath debris.
Furthermore, the mission includes hydraulic and pneumatic rescue equipment, essential for extricating trapped persons. The scale of the damage in Venezuela is significant, with entire city blocks reported as destroyed. The deployment of these resources underscores the comprehensive nature of the rescue effort, integrating specialized firefighting service, advanced medical support, and coordinated action from various state agencies to manage the emergency response.
