Palanga Municipality signed a contract for the 38.2 million euro port of Holyya project

The reconstruction of the Holy Sea Port in Palanga represents a significant milestone, not only for the city of Palanga but for Lithuania’s status as a maritime nation. According to statements from Palanga city mayor Šarūnas Vaitkus, the long-anticipated project is now entering a critical phase: the establishment of fundamental infrastructure necessary for the port to operate at full capacity. The reconstructed facility is slated to serve multiple sectors, including recreational shipping, tourism, fishing industries, state institutional requirements, and the broader development of the maritime economy, making it accessible for public use.

Regarding the project’s timeline, the local municipality has established clear guidelines. The municipality mandates that all construction work must be completed within 24 months from the official date of the contract. Furthermore, the regulations permit extensions of this deadline under conditions of unforeseen and non-contractual circumstances, allowing for two potential extensions of six months each.

Mayor Vaitkus emphasized that this infrastructure development is crucial for realizing the port’s potential. The successful completion of these foundational elements is viewed as pivotal to the future economic viability and public utility of the port area in Palanga. The meticulous adherence to the terms outlined in the contract and the oversight provided by the municipality are key components ensuring the project moves forward as planned.
