Parents combine their holidays with the youth squads camps: this summer more than 5,000 children will participate in them

This summer, organized activities are scheduled for the youth squads across numerous Lithuanian regions, including Alytus, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Marijampolė, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Tauragė, Utena, and Vilnius. Furthermore, some of the planned camps will extend beyond Lithuania’s borders, with international participation slated for the United Kingdom, Norway, and the United States. The level of interest in these annual summer camps has shown consistent growth.

The enthusiasm is so significant that some parents are adjusting their entire summer vacation plans to coincide with the youth squad schedules. Sandra Vasiliauskienė, the head of the Civic Education Department of the Lithuanian Scouting Association, addressed this high demand. She noted that the early inquiries for the summer camps confirm the sustained interest of the youth.

While this level of engagement is viewed positively, it presents logistical challenges for the organization. Vasiliauskienė explained that due to the high volume of interest, the priority for this year’s camps must be given to the local youth squad members, which necessitates careful planning regarding overall student capacity. These organized summer camps serve as key developmental experiences for the youth.

The continued planning and expansion of these activities underscore the importance of structured outdoor education programs throughout the summer season.

  1. It’s wonderful to see such a large number of organized sports opportunities for the kids this summer.
