According to the Telšių County Police Department, significant vandalism occurred at a religious site in Pasruojė village, located within the Telšiai district, on June 27. The incident involved multiple acts of desecration directed at a local chapel. Authorities reported that the damage was extensive.
Upon arrival, officers found holy images scattered throughout the structure. Furthermore, the stained glass windows were vandalized, with several panes of glass having been smashed. The damage extended to the building’s integrity; the interior of the chapel was reportedly damaged, and both the exterior and interior sections were observed to have been knocked down.
The police department confirmed that the entire outdoor structure of the chapel had been knocked down. Officials noted that an assessment of the material damage is currently underway to determine the full extent of the loss. In response to the desecration of what is considered a place of public reverence, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated.
