Residents are in favor of vaccinations, but one-fifth have refused to get vaccinated at least once

A recent study indicates a generally favorable public sentiment regarding vaccinations, according to a release from the VLK. Overall, 73% of the surveyed population expressed a positive view toward vaccination. This positive sentiment is comprised of 34% who hold a very positive view and 39% who reported a positive view.

Conversely, 18% of the respondents expressed a negative view, while 9% indicated they held no opinion on the matter. The survey also measured public health knowledge, revealing a high level of awareness. Specifically, 92% of respondents confirmed knowledge that recommended vaccinations are advised for both children and adults against certain diseases.

However, the data highlighted a disparity between awareness and practice, noting that 22% of respondents admitted to refusing a recommended vaccine within the last five years. Analysis of the reasons provided by those who declined vaccination showed several key concerns among the respondents. The most frequently cited reason for refusal was the fear of potential side effects, reported by 41% of those who declined.

Additionally, 39% of the non-vaccinated group stated they did not believe in the overall effectiveness of vaccines. A further 27% of respondents indicated that they did not perceive vaccination as necessary.
