Rokiškis is a city of windows: it will be adorned with new works that have not been seen before.

During the first week of August, the community in Žiobiškis hosted a creative event centered around the tradition of window art. Over five days, a group of eight local artists participated in the revitalization and creation of artwork on the building’s windows. The participating artists—Arūnas Augutis, Arvydas Bagdonas, Aušra Viduolienė, Rasa Staskonytė, Dovilė Tomkutė, Diana Švedienė, Romas Pučekas, and Jolanta Konstancija Jasukaitienė—worked to generate new narratives and designs on the existing windows while also restoring older pieces.

Giedrė Solovjovienė, president of the public organization „Tyzenhauzų paveldas,“ oversaw the initiative. She reported that the collective effort resulted in the creation of twelve new windows. These newly decorated pieces are slated to enhance the facades of buildings on another street within the Republic.

The event successfully merged artistic expression with community preservation. The involvement of multiple established artists ensured a high level of creative output, drawing attention to the historical significance of the window art tradition. The focus on these tangible, visible art forms provided a cultural highlight for both local residents and visiting guests.

This concentrated period of artistic activity underscores the ongoing commitment to cultural enrichment within the area. The development of these new windows not only beautifies the urban landscape but also serves as a visible testament to the collaborative efforts of the artists and the community organization supporting the project. The initiative successfully blended contemporary artistic talent with the preservation of traditional local crafts.
