A meeting with S. Kegel is scheduled for July 16th at 4 pm at the Thomo Manno memorial museum in Nida, as part of the Thomo Manno festival. Attendees are invited to learn more about the festival guest through an interview conducted by cultural journalist Juta Kiudė.
During the discussion, Kegel noted that while this visit marks his first time at Th. Manno’s summer house in Nida, he spent four months residing at the writer’s house in Los Angeles the previous year. Kegel described the Los Angeles residence as a wonderful location.
He explained that after fleeing Nazi Germany, he initially planned to stay in New York but eventually relocated to California. He remarked that the choice was unexpected, given that Th. Manno was associated with traditional European literature, while California is often characterized by its sunshine, cinema, and entertainment industries.
Nevertheless, Kegel stated that the move proved beneficial, as Th. Manno and his family spent time at the house in Los Angeles.
