Temporary Finance Minister: Lithuania will receive all funds from Brussels

Lithuania is scheduled to receive another 153 million euros in Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) funds on Tuesday as part of its sixth payment request. Furthermore, the final, seventh payment request, totaling 995 million euros—comprising 562 million euros in subsidies and 433 million euros in loan funds—is slated for submission in September. These funds are intended to address 68 specific indicators.

According to K. Vaitiekūnas, “practically all activities are finished,” confirming that virtually all planned RRF funding will reach the Lithuanian economy. He noted that the only exception is 8 million euros, for which the conservative government has already received a ruling.

The context for this pending amount relates to a dispute with the European Union. Lithuania had initially applied to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in July 2024. Subsequently, the European Commission (EC) decided not to disburse 8.7 million euros in RRF funds.

The government, led by Ingrida Šimonytė, filed a legal action regarding this discrepancy. However, last year, the government opted to withdraw that specific action. The successful receipt of the planned 995 million euros will significantly bolster the national economy.
