Of the 165 drivers tested for sobriety, 31 individuals, representing 19% of the group, were found to have a blood alcohol level exceeding 1.51 ppm. In such instances, the law imposes criminal liability on the individual. Analysis of the data indicated that the highest concentration of intoxicated drivers was recorded in the districts governed by the Klaipėda (30), Kaunas (24), Telšiai (18), and Marijampolė (16) police commissariats.
In addition to alcohol testing, 23 drivers were subjected to checks for intoxication from narcotic or other psychoactive substances; however, initial data confirmed no positive findings in these cases. Separately, a major enforcement operation was conducted on the Western bypass in Vilnius on June 19. During this special 24-hour measure, authorities managed to check 12,700 vehicles and identified 12 inebriated drivers.
Furthermore, the operation uncovered multiple instances of criminal activity, including confirmed cases of migrant smuggling, alongside the noted traffic incidents where seven vehicles collided. These combined reports highlight ongoing law enforcement efforts to maintain public safety. The identification of impaired drivers leads directly to potential criminal charges and associated liability, emphasizing the stringent measures taken by authorities across various regions.
The consistent focus on testing and enforcement continues to address risks associated with impaired driving and related illegal activities.
