The body of a woman, who is already beginning to rot, was found in the Širvintos river – she was caught in the branches and stuck in the grass(1)

Multiple locations across Lithuania have reported the discovery of deceased individuals recently. Authorities have been responding to several incidents involving the recovery of bodies from water and ponds. On July 19, at approximately 10:40 a.m., Vilnius County Police Department reported finding the body of an unidentified woman in the Širvintos river, near Paširvinčio village in the Širvintos district.

The discovery was initially reported by a passerby, with a subsequent call received from a woman who reported spotting the body hanging from branches and entangled in the grass. Officers at the scene retrieved the body from the water. Preliminary examinations revealed no signs of violence, meaning foul play has not been suspected at this time.

In other separate incidents, bodies have been recovered from various sources. In Klaipėda, suspended articles were noted in the Daugėliškės river where a young man’s body was discovered. Furthermore, cameras recorded a man’s body in a swimming pool in Grigiškės.

Additionally, multiple recoveries occurred in rural areas. In the Lazdijų district, a woman was found deceased in a pond, and firefighters were required to pull the body from the water. Separately, in the Pivašiūnų district, firefighters also retrieved the body of an elderly woman from a local pond.

These reports indicate ongoing efforts by local authorities to manage and investigate various deaths across the region.
