The finalization of V. Antonov’s sentence is pending a decision from the Lithuanian Court of Appeal. This week, the Court of Appeal advanced the criminal case, during which Antonov provided testimony and subsequently admitted guilt.
Despite these developments, questions persist concerning the circumstances surrounding the collapse of “Snoras.”
The General Prosecutor’s Office reported that a total of 105 million euros were confiscated jointly for the benefit of the state. Previously, the Vilnius District Court had found Antonov guilty of eight separate crimes last year. The legal proceedings are currently focused on the appellate review of the charges.
The indictment related to the case was presented in Antonov’s presence. While the severity of the charges and the potential sentence—which could exceed ten years—have been widely reported, the ultimate determination rests with the higher court. Antonov’s current location outside of Lithuania adds complexity to the proceedings.
The legal process requires adherence to established judicial procedures, and the outcome of the appeal will determine the final disposition of his criminal case. The court’s decision will dictate the final parameters of his legal accountability regarding the matters under review.
