Following a meeting with President Gita Nausėda, the president’s adviser provided commentary on a specific candidate, noting that the individual possesses a broad understanding of public finances. The adviser also characterized the candidate as ambitious and someone who actively seeks innovative solutions. Separately, interim finance minister Kristupas Vaitiekūnas addressed questions regarding the appointment of Taurimas Valius to a role within the new government.
When questioned about receiving official notification from M. Sinkevičius concerning the change, Vaitiekūnas stated that he did not learn about the decision from the appointed minister. Instead, he indicated that his awareness of the appointment came through the public sphere.
Speaking to Eltai on Thursday, Vaitiekūnas elaborated that his information source was the media. He stated, “I heard, I think, yesterday when those news appeared, then I heard.” When specifically asked if he had been informed by Mindaugas Sinkevičius, he confirmed that his knowledge originated from media reports. Vaitiekūnas concluded his remarks by mentioning that he was currently on vacation.
