Tadas Kavaliauskas, Head of the Communications Department at the National Judicial Administration (NTA), stated that V. Gapšiui has been informed in writing that the relevant commission lacks the grounds to consider his application. Consequently, no public commission meeting will take place regarding the request.
Kavaliauskas confirmed that the NTA possesses no additional publicly available information concerning the matter. Separately, updates were provided regarding the parole status of former parliamentarian V. Gapšys.
Earlier in June, the Kaunas District Court in Kėdainiai initially refused to grant parole to Gapšys concerning corruption charges, marking the third such refusal. Gapšys subsequently appealed this decision to the Kaunas High Administrative Court. The three judges presiding over the first-instance court found procedural deficiencies within the ruling issued by the lower court.
As a result, the initial decision was annulled. This procedural ruling means that the issue of V. Gapšys’ parole before the district court will not be immediately decided.
Instead, the matter has been rescheduled and is slated for re-determination in September. The judicial process continues through these appellate stages, ensuring that the proper legal channels are followed by the court system.
