HEIMA Architects has detailed their new architectural endeavor, a large-scale project situated in an open field on the outskirts of Palanga, near Birutės Park and a pine forest. The design aims to enhance the existing coastal landscape character of the area. According to the architects, the building’s sculptural form draws direct inspiration from the natural elements of the coast, specifically modeling the dynamics observed in sea waves and coastal dunes.
This architectural concept seeks to translate the interplay of wind, sand, and water into a tangible structure. The architects emphasized that the facility is envisioned as more than just a dedicated art venue. It is designed to function as an open public space intended for both the local community and visiting guests.
A key element of the design is its seamless integration with the natural environment; the public area is naturally oriented toward the adjacent forest, effectively blurring the traditional boundary between built architecture and nature. This connection is intended to invite visitors to experience art, nature, and community engagement as a unified whole. Previously announced by the mayor of Palanga, the preliminary scope for this future gallery facility is estimated to cover an area of approximately 3,700 square meters.
The entire project is positioned to create a cultural hub that respects and utilizes its unique natural surroundings while providing substantial public access.
