The last day, the scammers mainly targeted the inhabitants of Šiauliai region

The Vilnius County Police Department has received multiple reports concerning alleged scams and thefts involving impersonators in the region during the month of July. On July 9, police were notified by one woman, born in 1952, regarding an incident that occurred in Vilnius between July 6 and July 9. She reported that while at her home, she was deceived by individuals posing as police officers.

These individuals allegedly tricked her into surrendering 400 euros and a bank card, which was subsequently used to withdraw an additional 2,000 euros from her account, resulting in a total reported loss of 2,400 euros. Later that same day, another woman, born in 1943, also filed a report with the Vilnius County Police Department. She stated that around 2 p.m., while at her residence in Vilnius, a man claiming to be a police officer misled her into giving him 8,500 euros.

Separately, the police were also informed of an incident that took place in Panevėžys district. A man, born in 1982, reported that on July 5, in the Uliūnų village area, he fell victim to a phishing attempt after clicking on a link received via a message. These reports highlight recent instances of alleged fraud targeting residents in both Vilnius and surrounding districts throughout July.

Authorities continue to investigate the reported incidents.
