The Lithuanian creators decided to not keep quiet anymore – they feel great injustice and have even contacted the European Commission

According to Vadimas Gasperskis, head of the LRTK Legal Department, the income generated by content creators is directly correlated with the geographic location of their audience. This variation exists because advertisers retain the autonomy to select the specific markets where they wish to place their advertisements. Gasperskis noted that the YouTube platform facilitates this advertiser control, allowing companies to choose precise geographic areas for ad delivery.

Because the level of competition among advertisers differs significantly across these various markets, the resulting payments for every thousand ad views, and consequently the actual earnings of content creators, fluctuate. This variability in revenue streams was echoed by Arvydas Semionovas, director of Videotinklas company, who stated that the structure of the YouTube advertising system is inherently varied, leading to inconsistent earnings for content creators. The core issue revolves around how global ad spending is segmented.

The ability of advertisers to pinpoint where their target demographic resides dictates the value proposition for content creators. This mechanism means that the revenue model is not uniform; instead, it is highly dependent on the economic activity and competitive landscape within the chosen advertising markets. Understanding this geographical dependency is crucial for creators aiming to maximize their income streams from digital platforms.
