The Lithuanian handball clubs have been revealed as opponents in European Cup tournaments

Six Lithuanian teams are scheduled to participate in European handball cup tournaments this autumn. The draw, held on Tuesday at the European Handball Federation (EHF) headquarters in Vienna, revealed the opponents for five of the country’s clubs. The men’s champion, Klaipeda “Dragonas,” was exempt from the initial draw as the team automatically advanced to the second European Cup stage based on its ranking.

The opponents for the remaining clubs—two Lithuanian men’s teams and three women’s teams—were determined during the draw. The men’s cup winner and the national vice-champion, Vilnius “Sveza,” will compete in the first stage against Stambulo GSK. This Turkish club entered the Turkish super league last season but secured fourth place in its debut attempt.

Meanwhile, Kaunas “Granitas” will face a team that finished third in the Cyprus league and placed third in the competition. These matchups set the stage for the upcoming European handball season. The participation of multiple Lithuanian clubs across various divisions underscores the depth of the sport within the country.

The results from the draw provide clear objectives for the teams as they prepare for the competitive handball action throughout the autumn months.
