On Monday, July 20, several key stakeholders formalized a collaborative agreement through the signing of a memorandum. The signatories included the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (MEI), the Vilnius City Council, the Confederation of Lithuanian Industry (CLI), and the Baltic Film & Creative Tech Cluster Association. The agreement signals a concerted effort to bolster the nation’s creative sector.
Speaking to journalists, Roman Matulis, the director of the Baltic Film & Creative Tech Cluster Association, presented a positive economic outlook for the industry. He noted that in the previous year, the audiovisual sector contributed approximately 208 million euros in revenue to the country. Matulis projected significant future growth following the completion of a new studio facility.
He estimated that the sector’s size could expand to around 365 million euros. This projected growth would translate to an added value of approximately 145 million euros for the economy, alongside an expected tax contribution of about 50 million euros. Addressing the importance of maintaining current momentum, Matulis stated that the region’s leadership position must be preserved.
The collective commitment demonstrated by these governmental and private entities underscores a strategic focus on developing the lithuanian creative economy. The support provided by the association and its partners aims to solidify the sector’s standing both domestically and internationally.
