The Minister of Finance’s communication adviser will work for the former A. Zuoko’s representative

Eltai confirmed on Wednesday that she was personally invited to join the team by the new finance minister. This appointment follows a background for J. Butkevičienė, who has previously served as a communications advisor to two Labour Party ministers: Vygilijus Jukna and Virginija Baltraitienė.

Her professional experience also includes running for municipal councilor and mayor, and subsequently being elected as a member of the Shatyninkai district council, a position she held for the entirety of the term until 2023. Furthermore, Ms. Butkevičienė has experience working within the media sector.

The composition of the minister’s team also includes several other key personnel. As T. Valys previously noted, a new deputy minister responsible for budget formation has been integrated into the team this week.

Additionally, Rūta Carik joins the group, bringing experience from the Social Dialogue Department at the Social Protection and Labour Ministry (SADM). The integration of these individuals highlights the depth of expertise within the ministry’s structure. The roles described—ranging from high-level policy advisory to specific functions in budget formation and public communication—underscore the focus on comprehensive governmental support within the finance sector.

The appointment of Ms. Butkevičienė to this key ministerial role suggests a strategic alignment of communication expertise with the department’s current priorities.
