The mystery of the marshes of Kaišiadorys: the police began to investigate the circumstances of the unknown man’s death, and the firefighters were needed

On July 27th, at approximately 10:04 PM, the Kaunas Fire Brigade was contacted by the police for assistance. The request directed the firefighters to a location in Rumšiškių Parish, specifically the Antakalnio village on Laukų street. Upon arrival at the scene, it was determined that a body needed to be recovered from a marshy area.

Two firefighters, appropriately equipped in waterproof suits, were dispatched to the location. Their task involved the careful removal of the deceased from the wet, marshy meadow. The personnel successfully extracted the body from the difficult terrain and subsequently handed it over to the attending police officers.

The incident highlights the diverse roles emergency services play in public safety, extending beyond typical fire response to include recovery operations in challenging environments. The coordinated effort between the police and the firefighters ensured the safe retrieval of the remains. The firefighters’ specialized gear and training proved essential in navigating the wet conditions to complete the recovery operation.
