The opposition does not intend to refrain from criticism of the new government for 100 days

Speaking to journalists in the Parliament, L. Kasčiūnas indicated that while the coming summer period might be characterized by a relative lull in activity, the political focus will remain substantive. He stated that the notion of an extended period of ease is inaccurate, noting that the concept of “luxury” has concluded, necessitating concrete results across various sectors.

Kasčiūnas addressed the current public discourse, criticizing the tendency to focus on lifestyle issues, such as nightlife or demographic debates concerning parenthood. He asserted that the political agenda must pivot away from such discussions. Instead, he confirmed that the Homeland Union-Christian Democrats (TS-LKD) have their own policy proposals.

These initiatives, he stated, will be formally registered over the course of the summer recess, after which they plan to engage the Prime Minister in direct dialogue. The Conservative Party leader emphasized that the party’s core areas of concentration will be education, national defense, and other critical policy matters. He stressed that the political energy will be directed toward these foundational issues rather than peripheral topics.

Therefore, while some may anticipate a slowdown over the next few days, Kasčiūnas suggested that the commitment to policy development will ensure that the period is anything but quiet. He cautioned that superficial engagement will not satisfy the demands for tangible governance improvements.
