A. Armonaitė assessed the situation in Lithuania: it seems that we are on the brink of civil war

The former leader of the Freedom Party recently addressed public commentary after a period away from the spotlight. During an interview on the TV show “ELTA corner,” she stated her willingness to speak but declined participation in what she characterized as an unproductive, cyclical questioning format. She clarified that her recent absence was due to professional commitments, noting that she has been working in Africa and recently served as a guest scientist in Paris.

Despite her geographical distance, she emphasized that she remains closely informed about the country’s developments. She expressed significant concern regarding the trajectory of lithuania, stressing that the positive momentum for the nation’s development, which she believes began under previous administrations, must continue. She stated that every unfolding event causes her deep apprehension.

When assessing the political climate, she reiterated that her professional duties have kept her abroad. She noted that even during her last term in parliament, she was not physically based within lithuania due to her work in Africa. Nevertheless, she confirmed that she follows all proceedings diligently.

Her primary message remained a call for continuity, emphasizing that the efforts made to advance the nation should not falter.

  1. The claim of being on the brink of civil war is a very serious statement that warrants significant local context.
