The reality of war changed V. Putin’s plans: canceled the concert in Red Square

An annual large-scale Russian day concert traditionally takes place in Red Square. However, recent reports indicate changes to the event’s staging and scope. For the current iteration, the venue has been relocated from Red Square to the Mossovet Culture Center in Preobrazhenskaya Square.

Furthermore, the concert program has been notably shortened, and the participation of several well-known Russian stars has been canceled, with no official explanation provided for these modifications. Historically, the Red Square concert has drawn large crowds, with thousands of attendees participating in the festivities. In 2025, the event featured performers such as SHAMAN, Nikolai Baskov, Tatiana Kurtukova, Alexander Rosenbaum, Valeria, and others.

During that time, security concerns were heightened, marked by a military report issued to the public regarding increased threats of provocations. For the present year, data from MSK1 suggested that performances were planned by artists including Nadezhda Babkina, Lara Dolina, Alexander Buinov, and the Ay Yola group. On May 9, Moscow hosted an event characterized by a record-low attendance count.

The shift from the expansive Red Square to a smaller venue, coupled with the revised lineup, represents a departure from previous years’ large-scale public celebrations.
