The vote concerning the matter saw 86 parliamentarians casting their votes in favor, with no abstentions recorded. During a recent parliamentary session, MFA Deputy Minister Vidmantas Verbickas articulated the rationale for seeking the dissolution of the pact.
He stated that the current geopolitical climate and the perceived disregard for the nation’s “benevolent interest” have rendered the continuation of the existing arrangement untenable. Specifically, Verbickas indicated that the Ministry does not foresee any viable path for the agreement to continue functioning in its current form. The agreement in question was originally signed in Minsk in 2010.
