An investigation was conducted to examine the chemical composition of various electronic cigarettes purchased from retail outlets across the Vilnius region. The scope of the study involved collecting samples of different brands available at both specialized vape stores and local gas stations. In total, the research procured ten individual units representing ten distinct brands of electronic nicotine delivery systems.
The collected materials varied in packaging format, with some units being individually sealed and others comprising full boxes containing ten units of a single brand. All procured samples were subsequently dispatched to an independent, accredited laboratory located in the United Kingdom. This facility, which operates under Resolian, performed comprehensive chemical analysis on the liquids contained within the cigarettes.
The primary objective of the testing was to quantify the presence and concentration of sweeteners, sweetening agents, and various flavoring compounds. The laboratory’s analytical process was detailed, extending beyond merely identifying traditional sweeteners. The scope of the analysis was broad, ensuring the detection of any chemical compounds capable of imparting a sweet taste, thereby providing a thorough assessment of the product formulations on the market.
The findings are intended to provide a data-driven overview of the chemical profiles of these widely available vaping products.
