The summer sleep regime is over: how to return to the rhythm so that the body does not experience a shock?

According to geneticist and medical doctor Vaidas Dirsė, maintaining a healthy biological rhythm requires more than superficial adjustments, as the body’s internal clock cannot be easily reset. The expert advises that understanding fundamental principles is necessary for a smoother return to optimal biological function. The importance of a consistent sleep regime extends beyond seasonal changes.

Data compiled from the National Well-Being Index (NSI), initiated by Eurovaistinė, highlights significant public health concerns regarding rest. The survey revealed that only 29% of the Lithuanian population reports sleeping optimally—specifically, achieving 7 to 9 hours of sleep, falling asleep easily, and waking up feeling rested. The remaining majority face various difficulties maintaining consistent sleep patterns.

The findings suggest that adequate rest is not a peripheral concern but a cornerstone of overall health. The study indicated that sleep quality and general fatigue are frequently cited factors impacting the general well-being of the population, mentioned by 34% of respondents. This data underscores the physiological reality that the body’s natural rhythms are complex and cannot be easily circumvented.

Therefore, establishing and adhering to a stable sleep routine is presented as a critical component for improving public health metrics and overall quality of life.
