B. Markauskas stated that he has not reached a final decision regarding his political path, noting that while he appreciates the mayor’s work and enjoys the process of building and achieving tangible results, he requires time to consider the future thoroughly. During a discussion on the politics.lt radio show, the conversation shifted toward municipal growth metrics.
Markauskas reviewed the available data, comparing current dynamics to those observed over the previous decade. He highlighted significant increases in key indicators. Specifically, he pointed out that the municipal budget has expanded substantially, growing by approximately 3.5 times, rising from 60 million euros to 201 million euros over ten years.
Furthermore, the resident population has increased from over 50,000 to more than 70,000 inhabitants. When questioned about the potential population reaching up to 80,000, Markauskas acknowledged the growth while cautioning about the inherent inaccuracies of artificial intelligence models. He suggested that if one were to count all individuals currently residing within the municipality, the actual number of residents could indeed exceed 80,000.
The discussion underscored a pattern of rapid development and resource expansion within the local government structure. Markauskas emphasized that these figures reflect a significant upward trajectory, which remains a key factor in his ongoing evaluation process. He reiterated that while he feels a natural inclination to create and build, the comprehensive review of the long-term economic and demographic forecasts is crucial before making any commitment.
