These residents will receive additional funds for solar power plants and storage systems

The Ministry of Energy has introduced a new support measure aimed at enhancing the nation’s energy independence. This initiative allows residents who are currently facing restrictions on the ESO network to install both solar power plants and corresponding energy storage devices at their residences, provided the power fed into the grid does not exceed 1 kW. According to reports, the administration of this crucial support measure falls under the purview of the Environmental Project Management Agency (APVA).

Significant funding adjustments have been made for the current pilot call. Specifically, an additional 10.13 million euros have been allocated this year, substantially increasing the total funding available from 5.3 million euros to 15.43 million euros. The response to the program has been substantial, leading to the full allocation of the initial funding pool.

Consequently, a reserve list was established starting April 28th. This reserve list currently represents applications valued at approximately 6.8 million euros, demonstrating high demand for the available power solutions. This comprehensive measure seeks to decentralize energy generation and bolster local resilience against grid limitations.

By facilitating the integration of residential solar and storage systems, the government aims to empower homeowners to manage their own energy consumption more effectively. The continued interest highlights the growing viability and necessity of localized renewable energy infrastructure within the national power grid.
