URM: the embassy received official information about the death of a Lithuanian citizen in the Kyrgyz mountains

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Friday that, out of respect for individual privacy and without consent, it cannot provide the media with specific information regarding individuals or the circumstances of the event. However, relatives have reportedly confirmed the identities of the two climbers who died on Korumdu peak. According to data from the Ošo district internal affairs department of Kyrgyzstan, the deceased have been identified as Maksimas Poliansky, a 43-year-old Belarusian citizen, and Sergejus Rubcov, a 37-year-old Lithuanian citizen, as reported by the Kyrgyzstan news portal “24.kg.”

Currently, the remains of the two individuals are located at the Ošo morgue.

Authorities anticipate that the bodies will be repatriated to their respective home countries. The ministry reiterated its adherence to privacy protocols when discussing this information. This development follows reports concerning the climbers’ journey in Kyrgyzstan.

While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintained its stance on confidentiality, the confirmation of identities provided key information to the public. The confirmed details regarding the deceased are limited to their names, nationalities, and the location of their remains, which are pending transfer.
