URM: we want NATO and the EU to initiate additional measures to strengthen security

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that diplomatic efforts are focused on implementing additional measures designed to enhance the protection and resilience of critical infrastructure. Regarding relations with Russia, the ministry indicated that diplomatic contacts between Lithuania and Russia are currently restricted to the minimum required level. The Ministry emphasized that Lithuania consistently uses diplomatic channels to protest Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine.

Furthermore, Lithuania utilizes these diplomatic engagements to counter and refute Russian propaganda directed against the nation. Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted that Lithuania aims to leverage existing European Union measures to secure funding for the defense of member states. These efforts underscore a proactive foreign policy stance aimed at bolstering security and maintaining international accountability.

The stated goal is to reinforce the collective defense posture of the region while simultaneously managing bilateral relations with Russia through a strictly controlled diplomatic framework. The overall strategy seeks to maximize international cooperation and financial support within the EU structure.
