“Užutrakio vakarai”: music connected two Baltic shores

The Latvian radio big bands performed in Lithuania, featuring the soulful and energetic maestro Ola Onabulé, marking the final event of the XXII International Music Festival “Užutrakio vakarai.” The concert’s energy was so pronounced that it momentarily overshadowed the rain, which later gave way to a visible rainbow. The event took on added significance as the Mayor of the Trakai District Municipality, Andrius Šatevičius, addressed the attendees, offering congratulations on Baltic Way Day. This occasion held deep symbolic resonance, recalling the moment 37 years prior when Lithuanians and Latvians stood together, linking hands in support of freedom.

The performance by the Latvian big bands in Lithuania served as a contemporary reminder of the enduring importance of unity and shared cultural heritage. The confluence of international music, cultural commemoration, and historical reflection provided a memorable conclusion to the festival. The celebration of the “Užutrakio vakarai” underscored the lasting bonds between the nations.

The shared experience, set against the backdrop of the beautiful evening, reinforced the message of continued solidarity.
