VSAT: Unchecked illegal migrants for the ninth day on the Belarusian border

On Monday, the Lithuanian border service reportedly restricted the entry of 26 migrants into the country. Meanwhile, Polish officials indicated that no such individuals were recorded entering on the preceding Sunday. Analyzing historical data reveals a trend in border crossings; last year, authorities permitted fewer than 1,600 persons to enter Lithuania from Belarus at unauthorized border locations, compared to 775 this year.

Since the onset of the migration crisis linked to Belarus, a cumulative total of approximately 25,300 irregular migrants have been permitted to enter Lithuania. The influx of migrants into Eastern European nations began in 2021, an event that drew accusations from Western nations regarding the actions of the regime in Minsk. The State Border Guard Service (VSAT) manages the border between Lithuania and Belarus.

These border controls remain a focal point of international attention. The consistent monitoring of these border points is crucial for managing irregular migration flows. Authorities continue to track the number of migrants attempting to enter the country, adjusting protocols based on observed patterns at the border.

The data provided illustrates the ongoing management challenges faced by border agencies attempting to maintain secure and regulated passage for all individuals crossing the border.
