In the district of Šalčininkai, border guards have landed two drones with a cargo of cigarettes worth 11 thousand euros

On Thursday night, officers from the VSAT Vilnius Border Guard detachment, stationed at the Padvarionys border post, detected multiple unauthorized drone flights originating from Belarus via the video surveillance system monitoring the Salchyninkai district. A border guard was immediately dispatched to the suspected location of the violation, where anti-drone equipment was utilized to block the area. Following the containment of the violation site, a search for any fallen drones commenced.

A service drone was launched to aid the efforts, and border guard personnel were supported by canine handlers whose service dogs were trained specifically in the border area. The incident was reported to their counterparts at the neighboring Gintaro Zaguonio border post, part of the VSAT Varena Border Guard detachment. After several hours, the search was resumed following a subsequent request.

The border guard teams continued their operation, focusing their search efforts on the areas surrounding the villages of Zaltunai and Iodvydzhi within the Salchynskai district. Through these coordinated efforts, the border guards successfully located the likely area where the violation occurred. The operation demonstrated the coordinated response capabilities of the border guard units in monitoring and responding to unauthorized aerial activity along the border.
