Over a three-day period, the emergency services hotline 112 registered a total of 18,241 calls. While this figure represents a slight decrease compared to the preceding weekend total of 18,770, the volume of incoming calls remains significantly elevated when compared to the typical average of approximately 17,000 calls usually received by the bpc during a standard summer weekend. The distribution of calls across the days showed the highest activity on Saturday, which accounted for 6,271 calls.
Friday recorded 5,738 calls, followed closely by Sunday with 6,232 calls. The BPC noted that the peak period for incoming calls generally occurs between 8:00 pm and 12:00 am. The increased demand for emergency assistance was attributed to several factors, including media reports concerning alleged plans targeting the Seimas building.
Furthermore, the implementation of the “Hot Weather” plan, titled “Saugus oras,” encourages greater public participation in outdoor activities, such as spending time near water bodies and engaging in active travel. This natural increase in public outdoor activity contributes to a higher overall need for emergency support. Despite the heightened activity levels, the BPC maintained operations throughout the busy period.
The data confirms that the sustained volume of calls suggests a noticeable uptick in public engagement and associated needs, requiring continuous monitoring by emergency services.
