M. Sinkevičius says he has at least three candidates for environment ministers

During a press briefing at the Parliament on Monday, M. Sinkevičius addressed the status of appointments for several key governmental roles. He informed reporters that there are at least three candidates identified for the social Democratic-led ministries.

However, Sinkevičius clarified that the final selection for these posts, as well as others, remains contingent upon the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP) Presidium meeting scheduled for Tuesday. Consequently, definitive announcements are expected either late Tuesday evening or on Wednesday morning. In addition to staffing updates, Sinkevičius also addressed the strategic plans concerning the normalization of relations with China.

He stated that multiple scenarios have been developed to guide these diplomatic efforts. Separately, Sinkevičius offered criticism regarding the conduct of G. Landsbergis, urging him to act with greater composure.

He also provided an explanation for why he had not initiated a specific call to Landsbergis. The commentary highlighted the ongoing internal political processes alongside external diplomatic considerations. The necessity of waiting until the LSDP leadership convenes underscores that the immediate path forward requires patience, leaving the least amount of immediate certainty regarding the governmental structure.

The discussions cover a range of topics, from internal party decision-making to complex international relations management, indicating a period of significant political transition for the governing coalition.
