A recent survey conducted by the research firm Norstat, commissioned by Lidl Lithuania, has provided insights into parental financial projections for the upcoming school year. The data details how parents plan to allocate funds for educational preparations. According to the findings, the largest segment of parents (37%) anticipates they will spend between 101 and 200 euros on school supplies for one child this year.
Furthermore, an additional 20% of respondents plan to spend in the range of 201 to 300 euros. Spending intentions are also distributed across other brackets: 20% expect to spend between 51 and 100 euros, 17% indicate they will spend more than 300 euros, and 6% plan to spend up to 50 euros. When considering spending relative to previous years, the majority of parents are projecting stability.
Specifically, 50% of parents plan to spend amounts similar to those utilized in the previous school year. However, a notable portion of families anticipate an increase in expenditure. Seventeen percent of respondents plan to spend slightly more than last year, while 13% anticipate a significant increase in how much they will spend.
The survey also touched upon the broader educational landscape, mentioning private education in Lithuania. While the report raises questions regarding whether private schooling represents a threat to equality or an opportunity for growth, the primary focus of the collected data centers on the specific amounts parents plan to spend on essential school materials in euros.
