Such hot June days in Lithuania have not been recorded before: an absolute record was set

Preliminary data indicates that a new record has been set for both the temperature on June 28th and for the entire month of June. According to Meteo.lt, the highest air temperature recorded on June 28th reached 36.3°C in Druskininkai. This figure surpasses the previous record set on the same date two years prior (June 28, 2024), when the temperature was 34.0°C, representing a 2.3°C increase.

Furthermore, the current reading contributes to a new monthly record for the highest temperature in June. The previous absolute monthly record for June’s highest temperature was set more than seven years ago, on June 12, 2019, in Kaišiadorys, at 35.7°C, marking a 0.6°C increase over that historical high. Forecasters predict that the temperature is expected to rise further, reaching 37°C on the current day.

These developments highlight significant warming trends observed across the region during the month of June. The sustained high readings suggest notable climatic activity compared to historical benchmarks for this time of year.
