The empty meadow in Vilnius Naujamiestis turned into a square with a surprising theme of firefighters

The central square in Naujamiestis has undergone a significant revitalization, adopting a theme centered around firefighters. This transformation has established the square as a notable community hub, featuring numerous enhancements such as new pedestrian walkways, dedicated children’s playgrounds, and various sports zones. Furthermore, small-scale architectural additions have been incorporated throughout the area.

The children’s play areas specifically align with the firefighters theme, and educational elements regarding fire safety are accessible via both Braille signage and QR codes. The square received its dedicated theme and naming recognition due to the proximity of the Fire Protection and Rescue Department of Šv. Florijonas, whose patron saint is historically associated with the firefighters profession.

Additionally, Mortos Street has been upgraded to function as an integrated part of the public space. This improvement provides enhanced connectivity, offering convenient access to the revitalized square from both Švitrigailos and T. Ševčenkos streets.

These updates aim to enrich the local environment, creating a multifaceted and engaging space for residents and visitors alike, all while paying homage to the local firefighters community.
