The Marine Wind Park has passed a crucial stage – it has received a positive conclusion

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report was developed in compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Lithuania and established international standards. The report’s scope is comprehensive, designed to evaluate potential effects across several critical areas, including the marine ecosystem, biological diversity, landscape integrity, fishing industries, public health, and various other natural and social factors. According to Anne-Marie Roikjær, head of the Curonian Nord project, the successful completion of the EIA represents a crucial stage for the project.

She stated that this outcome confirms that, following extensive environmental studies, active stakeholder dialogue, and close cooperation with responsible institutions, the project can advance while adhering to high environmental standards. Roikjær acknowledged the contributions of all parties involved throughout the assessment process. The EIA process necessitated the execution of comprehensive environmental studies, culminating in the detailed report.

The successful passage of this assessment is viewed as a significant milestone, indicating a pathway forward for the development of the Curonian Nord initiative. The findings detailed within the report provide the necessary framework for proceeding, ensuring that environmental considerations remain central to the project’s development plan. The confirmation of the project’s viability at this point is described as a positive development, validating the thoroughness of the preparatory work undertaken.
