The development of a public leisure space in the Pagryniai village was a collaborative effort, initiated by the local community in partnership with the Šilutės district administration. This initiative successfully transformed the area into a functional and inviting public amenity. The installed infrastructure includes a dedicated children’s playground featuring a safe, rubber-paved surface, a comprehensive youth sports zone equipped with exercise machines and poles, and various rest areas furnished with benches and bicycle stands.
Furthermore, the area benefits from modern amenities such as integrated lighting and video surveillance cameras, all contributing to a well-maintained environment. Crucially, the objective behind creating this space was twofold: to provide modern recreational infrastructure, and equally important, to preserve the area’s inherent natural assets, specifically its mature trees and existing green surroundings. Consequently, the resulting leisure area does not feel like an imposition on the landscape; rather, it harmoniously integrates with the natural setting, creating an atmosphere resembling a pleasant park suitable for enjoyment across all seasons.
Functionally, the space is organized into three distinct zones to accommodate diverse user needs. The first zone is designated as a safe play area for the youngest children. Adjacent to this is a larger section designed for older youth.
The third zone is dedicated to physical activity, housing the exercise machines and poles. This thoughtful zoning ensures that the area remains both highly usable for recreation and deeply connected to the natural character of the village.
